Scholarship Program

Scholarship Program

After our first group of Bible students graduated from our classes, we wanted a way for them to continue receiving Bible classes. From this, the scholarship program was born. Many children in Colomba do not attend school at all, because their parents cannot afford the $40/ year that it costs to buy the school supplies requested by the free government school. Those who do attend the government school find themselves in very poor conditions - at one point, all 12 grades were in one giant warehouse without classrooms, just groups of desks for each grade. There is one private, Christian school in town - - and while it is not perfect, it is a vast improvement from the other schools available.

The total cost to sponsor a student in 2025 was $450 for elementary students, $500 for middle school, $600 for high school (in a different city), and anywhere from $1,200-$1,800 for university, depending on the grade level and career choice. We provide for all the school related expenses, including school supplies, school uniforms, books and tuition. Some students facing extreme hardship may also receive assistance with transportation, according to the generosity of their sponsor.

Our hope for the scholarship program is that each sponsor will commit to paying their student’s educational expenses as long as they continue meeting the requirements - a 70% grade point average and standards for honorable conduct and behavior. We also hope they will commit to praying for their student and the student’s family. When hardships come up in a student’s life - it is often the sponsors that we write and inform so that they can join us in ministering to the student.
